one of my bests

katie.
you're 18.
welcome.
you will love it.
and you will hate it.
but have fun.

i can't even begin to try to write out how i feel about you and how much i love you.
but i do.
love you, that is...
and i feel...good feelings...about you.
um...yeah...not how i imagined that one turning out.
oh well.

you always have a sweet smile on your face and are never sassy or sarcastic.

you're always ready for any kind of adventure.
i can count on you to be spontaneous with me.

and if i had never been a part of our little trio, i think i would've missed it...even without knowing what i was missing out on. ...if that's possible.

{moi, katie, julia}

the traveling...item...is soon to be on its way to you, by the way.
wear it with pride.

i loves choo, babe.

::hides face in embarrassment::

yes, i realize that i've been in TX nearly a month and haven't posted once.
so much for sturdy resolves.

i don't really know where to begin, though. it's all running together in my mind and not making much sense.

first off, let me say that it's amazing to live 4 minutes from target, dsw, sephora, old navy, etc, etc...not that i've really taken advantage of that...but even just the knowledge is kinda cool. and i'm also just 8 minutes from a really nice outlet mall and an ikea (amazing!). and 2 minutes from HEB, the best grocery store in the world because of the incredibly tasty tortillas that they make in the store. you can buy them still warm. yum.

i promise that this blog won't degenerate into posts solely about cute things the little boys have said, but here are some kickers, all courtesy of Cord.

"my tummy has a headache."
"Eleanor! do you want to come watch Sleeping Beauty and the Beast with me?!"
"pink is a serious color."
"i didn't know you back then because i was a little baby that drank milk all the time."

after some serious thought and consideration, i've decided to announce my dark secret.
i like candy corn.
in fact, i could easily become addicted.
thank God for a tight budget.
and don't judge me.

stupid cupid...quit pickin' on me.

if this bike were a person and i met it, i think i'd marry it.
OR...
if i were a boy bike, and i was driving my person along the beautiful streets of Helsinki, and all of a sudden we collided with this bike and its person...i'd pull a Pongo-and-Perdita and get our people married so that we could get married too...and have adorable little bikelets.

OR...
someone could buy me this bike for Christmas or my birthday.
that'd work, too.

wouldn't it just be too perfect for riding around campus? ::sigh::

summer? i think i love you. harmony hill? i know i love you.

i'm so indecisive.
when it's winter, winter is my favorite season.
when it's summer, summer is my favorite season.
so right now, summer is my favorite.
but don't quote me on that.
it could change.

so far, it has been...everything i wanted.
and lots i didn't want.
lots i tried to avoid.
oh well.
that's life.

it doesn't ever really feel like summer has started until Harmony Hill (and Camp Moriah (or in this case, this year, Harmony Highlands)) happens. but then once it's over, there is only 1 & 1/2 months left! NOT very appreciated by the graduated class of the current year who are trying to complete a certain amount of priorities before the school time comes again.
oh well.
it's incredibly worth it.

saw the sunrise every morning for a week.
that right there will make you love God even more.

...and the singing was heavenly...
most of the time...
except for that one time when the basses in the girls' ensemble got off. :)

my brother kinda rocks.
"just sayin'..."

i'm pretty sure this is one of very few pictures that C and i have together. ...maaan! i wish Louisiana wasn't in the way. but while i'm wishing, i might as well just go ahead and wish for teleportation abilities. psh.

yay john and catie! i'm rootin' for y'all!
...aaaand y'all have pretty eyes.

the Ns.
i just want to say...it makes me very happy that there are people out there with which one can feel an instant connection. i think they just might be some of my new favorite people.
no joke.

kneeeees!! aaaa!!! ...i promise it was unintentional and just that once. promise.

this is my "little buddy." ok. i don't like to use precious when it comes to kids because it sounds like those cheesy people who are always talking about how they remember when you were born and how they just "loooove" babies and all that good junk...
BUT...
she was precious. straight up. precious.

and now i will leave you. not to return for...probably a while. i haven't been that inspired lately. obviously. hence the lack of posts. but i'll be back! never fear, younglings. i'll be back. (i know you were all waiting with bated breath for that proclamation.)

ok. now i'm just rambling.
peace out.

I want this room.

{via Bloesem}

Those shots of color against that grey wall are incredible!

I want a room to decorate. NOT my bedroom.
The attic ceiling is just too hard to work with, although I think I could do something really cool with it if I had the supplies (i.e. money). I'm picturing soft white wainscoting, a sea-ish green-ish textured wallpaper on top, charcoal grey neutrals to balance out (such as rugs, furniture, etc), and spots of vibrant orange, deep turquoise/teal, and a few points of yellow (but not too much, 'cause yellow is overdone these days).

I wish.

{via katie c's facebook album}

Via Dell'Amore.
Such a beautiful name.
Can you imagine hearing that said by a passionate Italian?
It's a custom, tradition, whatever you want to call it, that couples in Europe will attach locks to bridges, fences, and the like, and throw the key in the ocean.
That is very charming and lovely.
I think I have to go there.
Yep.
I will.

This bunny has nothing to do with Easter.

I just liked the picture.

Our new puppy comes when we call "kitty kitty kitty."
I think we have an identity crisis here.
Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.
Or maybe she's trying to get on our cat's good side and fit in.
No telling.
She's a goober.

And I promise my blog won't degenerate into a Taza-esque puppy dog journal.
I promise.

beams of lustage are shooting forth from mine eyes.
::sigh::

Chuck---
on one hand...you inspire me...and for that, I love you.
on the other hand...you make me wish for Spring to come...and for that...
you're not helping any.

It's funny.
I've never really connected Valentine's Day with boyfriends, couples, or lovey-dovey-ness.
It's always been more of an excuse to have family time.
I'm glad.
It will make it more special when I actually do have a boyfriend to be lovey-dovey with.

Go here
and here

They know what I'm talking about.
Valentine's Day doesn't have to be a sad day for singles.
It can be happier for singles than couples.
Think about it.

You know what I'm talking about?
Tell me your idea of what I mean.

inchoate

 This is Papa.
He won the Beautiful Baby contest when he was a blonde-headed tot.

This is him a little later.
Ok, a lot later.
Can you guess which one is Papa?
Yep.
The younger cute one with the gap in his teeth.
Dead give-away right there.
This is a picture of my Uncle Mark and Papa.

This is him when he was a student at U of M.
Doesn't he look excited? Full of vim and vigor?

Dude.
You have to be envious of a mustache that is that cool.

This is him now.
Duh.
He's my sweetheart.

just wait till summer...

i'm planning an Up escape.

~we'll float just below the clouds and listen to Saltwater Room~
~we'll watch the patchwork world move past below us~
~we'll chat with some birds and make friends with the sun~

then...

~when we're ready to come down, we'll land on a cheery hill and put down our own patchwork~
~we'll turn our attention to the clouds we were just getting cosy with~
~we'll take a long walk down the hill toward the brilliant lake and watch the shadows grow up~
~we'll find a sailboat and go winding into the middle of nowhere~

then...

~when it's dark, we'll come back to solid ground and find your pickup~
~and while it turns Herbie and drives itself, we'll lie in the back on our patchwork~
~we'll shut out everything but the sound of the crickets and the wind~
~and when we end back up at the top of the hill, we'll climb into our little house, loosen it from its birch tree mooring, and float back up to sleep with the stars~

~we'll go somewhere only we know~

cheating

Ok. I know it's a pig, but it's cute.

That's a horse, folks. Full grown.

Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.

I want one!

How cute is that, folks? Wouldn't you love to see one of these frolicking around your backyard?
